Why Choose Samoens?

For your winter ski or summer holiday

Whilst it is one of the less well known ski resorts in the French Alps, it is for exactly this reason that Samoens holds such charm.

Whether you’re looking for a winter skiing or summer activity holiday destination, Samoens offers everything you’d expect from an established alpine resort and more. Relax and enjoy it all from the comfort of our spacious self-catering apartment, Chez Michelle, with stunning views from either of the two balconies.

Convenience

Samoens is only a one-hour drive from Geneva with no long transfer journeys taking up precious hours of your holiday time. You can get to Samoens a number of ways. Several low cost airlines offer budget flights from most UK airports to Geneva where you can either hire a car or we can organise a car transfer service for you. Alternatively, Samoens is only a 9-hour drive from Calais.

Easy access to the vast ski domain of the Grand Massif | Why Samoens?

Vast Ski Area with Excellent Snow Record

In the winter skiing months, the Grand Massif boasts 265kms of uncrowded pistes for skiers and snowboarders alike.

The very efficient free ski bus, with the bus stop literally on the doorstep of Chez Michelle, takes you to the 8-seater Grand Massif Express for high speed access to Samoens 1600, Flaine, Les Carroz, Morillon and Sixt.

There are also not the crowds associated with many of the more well known ski resorts, so fewer people queuing for the ski lifts and competing for a table at the mountain restaurants.

The Grand Massif has an excellent snow record and indeed was rated in the top five resorts in the French Alps for depth of snow in 2006.

Why Summer Holiday in Samoens?

Summer Activities for all the Family

In the summer months, there are over 900km of walking trails, 600km of mountain biking tracks, paragliding, rafting, canoeing, horse riding and adventure parks – the list of summer activities available is virtually endless!

Value for Money

As a lesser known resort with all the amenities you would expect in a ski resort, Samoens offers exceptional quality and great value for money.

Excellent and affordable skiing and snowboarding facilities are available for all abilities, including a range of ski pass options depending on your level and ambitions!

The restaurants and bars also offer good quality food and drink with a welcoming, friendly smile and efficient service at reasonable prices for those nights when you want a night off from cooking in the apartment.

Picturesque, Traditional Alpine Resort

With its strict conservation policy in place and the only ski resort in the French Alps classified as a Monument Historique, Samoens has retained its unique character, warmth and charm with no purpose-built concrete high rises of other resorts.

A week’s stay at Chez Michelle really does give you a taste of life in a friendly, true alpine French village – that’s why we love it so much ourselves!
